| Venture in Ukraine |
|
| This spring has seen the Venture team visit a number of countries across Europe and the rest of the world, with our latest signing to the stockists being the Sport Fishing company in the Ukraine. Courtesy of our good friend Gena, Venture's Simon Crow and Rene Hawkins were guests at a carp show on the outskirts of Kiev in early March. Here's what Crowy told us: "We've known Gena for several years now since meeting at Lake Raduta in 2000 and we've been promising to pay him a visit all this time. Finally we made it over to see him at a show held at the Irish Pub in Kiev. We got a chance to meet up with plenty of Ukrainian carpers whilst at the same time talk in depth about the Venture and Solar brands, which have both been signed by Sport Fishing. We were made very welcome by everyone and we'd like to thank Gena and his team for having us." The trip also coincided with the launch of Crowy & Rob Hughes' book Discover Carp Fishing which has recently been translated into Russian. |

| German Adventure Weekend |
|
Every year the Adventure Fishing shop in Hamburg, Germany organise a show which runs over two days. Sascha Pingel and Dieter Martens run a very successful business and the show is always well received. This year Venturecarp director Steve Briggs went along with partner Joan and Cassien legend Gary Hillson. Steve commented: ?It was a great weekend and I couldn?t believe how busy it was! Sascha and Dieter were great hosts and customers were entertained the whole time by video and slide shows. I?ll look forward to going again next year.? Check out their website in the stockists section for more pictures ? they have over 8000 in all!!
Coming up is a trip to the De Zutter show in Belgium for Steve Briggs and Rob Hughes in March, where they will be giving a talk and slide show and later in May the Venturecarp team will be heading off to Romania for a show and friendly carp match ? more details on these and other events coming soon. |

| New products coming soon! |
|
Venturecarp have some exciting news about new products that will be available soon. Two new items are being added to the range and will be in the shops by June 2008 - the SI Mat and the Recovery Sling.
The SI Mat has been designed to meet the needs of anglers as well as the fish, the ?SI? stands for ?self inflating? and by opening the valves, the mat will inflate to provide plenty of padding and protection for the fish. When you?re ready to go home the air can be expelled by simply rolling it up with the valves open again which minimises the overall size, making carriage far easier.
The Recovery Sling is a weigh sling with a difference. Besides being a weigh sling that will take the largest of carp, it incorporates four buoyancy aids that allow a fish to be rested in the margins while you organise yourself for the pictures etc. The Recovery Sling sits upright on the surface while the mesh section ensures a good flow of water for the fish.
Watch this space for news on the new range of VentureCarp rods ? coming soon! |

| Venture go Dutch! |
|
Last week saw the launch of the Venture brand into Holland. Team members Simon Crow and Alex Perrin were joined by our Dutch agent Edwin Wouters at the famous Zwolle show in the north of the country. Thousands of carpers from all over Europe were gathered at the two day event, with the brand now taking positive steps forward into Europe. Holland is the eighth European country to take the Venture brand, and 2008 is already looking to be a positive year for the company.
Rob Hughes, MD, revealed: ?Things are going exceptionally well. The brand is growing day by day, and we are really happy with the way things are going. Whilst Simon and Alex were busy at the Dutch show, myself and Shoes have been busy putting the finishing touches to some new items for 2008. These include a fantastic new rod, a really unique weigh sling and an awesome unhooking mat. If anyone ever wondered how you could improve a weigh sling and unhooking mat, then wait till you see the new ones we have coming!? |

| Meik and brothers down at Cassien |
|
| VentureCarp consultant Meik Pyka was in action recently down at the world famous Lac de St. Cassien in southern France. Meik, who has accounted for many of the lakes big carp in the past, tackled the difficult venue in the company of brothers Nick and Bengt and despite the fishing being very tough of late they soon managed to get amongst the fish. Targeting the top of the north arm they landed several good-looking mirrors up to 21kg ? a great result to start the year off with! |

| A great test! |
|
| Steve Briggs has been putting some prototype barbel rods through their paces just recently. The first evening out on the river Colne brought a couple of decent chub to the bank but the next evening Steve latched in to his first couple of barbel of 2008. Steve described it as a real pleasure to play the fish on the new rods but then he thought ?What the hell? to give them a proper test why not take them carp fishing? So he ?ventured? down to a local Colne Valley water where he hooked and landed two carp during the night. It was ?hit and hold? tactics for both fish as they were hooked near to snags but the rods performed admirably in quite extreme circumstances. |

| Hughesy on Fire |
|
| 2007 was a cracking year for Rob, with some awesome fish at home in the UK and then the biggy from Cassien in August. Little did he know that the last trip of the year, a 4 day session to France?s awesome Rainbow lake, would end up with him landing the fish of a lifetime from swim 12. On the last day of the last trip of the year he banked a 34kg (75lb 12oz) mirror which is a new personal best and a fish that puts him on the worldwide all time big fish list. As ever Solar?s Club mix was the successful bait and a clump of crushed baits over the top was the successful method. |
